2017 Wexford Rally

The route has been decided for the 2017 Wexford Rally, and it will be racing past the gates of Millknock Farm on Saturday the 9th of September. Millknock Farm would make an ideal base for a group of rally fans to follow this event, with the opportunity to watch 3 of the stages on the Saturday without leaving the property. Being just 15 km (10 miles) from the base in Wexford town, the house would also make ideal accommodation for a team participating in the rally.

Wexford Festival Opera Opening Fireworks 2016

Opening night of the 2016 Wexford Festival Opera saw a spectacular fireworks show on the quay front of Wexford town. This is an annual event, with art and photography exhibitions, craft fairs, antique fairs, book fairs, the swing pubs competition and much more taking place in Wexford town and the surrounding area as part of the fringe. Located just 10 miles from the heart of the action Millknock Farm is the perfect base to explore all of the attractions.

New Look Living Room and Kitchen

After four months of extensive refurbishment the new look living room, and the new larger kitchen are now ready for Spring/Summer 2016.

The new look living room features an electric fire in the hearth of the new fireplace, wall mounted TV, DVD player and free to air satellite channels.

The New living room also features comfortable seating for 10 adults, with two 3 seat sofas and two 2 seat sofas. There are also two pouffes for children to sit on.

The new kitchen is approximately 33% larger than it used to be. There are also more cupboards and a larger oven. There is still a large table with seating for 12, and plenty of space to move around the table.

New look bedrooms for 2016

All six bedrooms in the farmhouse have got a new look for 2016 following the refurbishment works. The house still sleeps 12, and two of the bedrooms are larger.

Winter 2015 Refurbishment Works at Millknock Farm Self-Catering

Unfortunately the house will not be available for breaks this winter. Starting on the 1st of November this year the house will be undergoing extensive refurbishment works. The house will be available for holidays again from the 1st of March next year, and you can book your Spring/Summer 2016 break in the new look house now! The living room will be getting an entirely new look for 2016. The old chimney is coming out to be replaced by a smaller modern chimney, which will make the room slightly larger, and will also make the bedroom above slightly larger. The old timber floor will be replaced with a modern, insulated, concrete floor to make the room warmer. Finishing touches like the new fireplace, floor covering and paint colour are yet to be decided on... suggestions welcome!!
Stage 2 of the refurbishment works will see the kitchen chimney (which measures approximately 1.9m x 3.3m) demolished to make the house bigger. A new, larger, kitchen will be installed, and an extra shower room will be added upstairs.

Harvest 2015

Summer time is harvest time on the farm, and this year it was wheat growing in the fields.

The harvesting began in the morning with hazy sunshine in the skies.

And finished in the evening as the sun set.

New for Summer 2015!

The holiday home may be located in the Sunny South East of Ireland, but we do still get an occasional rainy day. With this in mind, a Playstation 2 and a selection of games was provided in the house for children to use when the weather was not suitable for playing outside. Unfortunately, the time has come to say goodbye to the old Playstation 2 console.... and hello to a new Playstation 3 console! A selection of games are also provided to go with the new console. It can also be used to play DVDs and Blu Rays, and with high speed internet available in the house you can access your Netflix account.

New For Summer 2014

A swing and slide for children from 2 to 12 years old has been added to the garden of our self-catering cottage for summer 2014.

And the is still plenty of space in the garden for a game of football!

Summer 2014 Self-Catering in Wexford

We have one chance for a midweek break still available this June, from Monday the 16th to Friday the 20th at €395 for 2 nights, and just €45 per night for third and subsequent nights. The weekend from Friday the 6th of June is also still available at the same great price!

And, this doesn't seem right, but it is!! 12 people can really stay here for just €7.15 per person per night in August. We have just 2 weeks still available ... from the 16th to the 23rd and from the 23rd to the 30th of August. Up to 12 people can stay for €760 per week, or just €1200 for both of these weeks.

These prices are for large parties of up to 12 people to stay in the farmhouse. Discounts are offered if there are less than 10 people in your group.

Why we ask for a security deposit.

When we set this blog up it was with the intention of promoting our farmhouse accommodation, not with the intention of posting about the lack of respect shown for our house by a tiny minority of our guests. It seemed petty. These people obviously have no shame, so there seems little point in trying to shame them here. But sometimes we need to vent our frustrations, so today we've had a change of heart. Today has been one of those days where we just want to give up letting other people stay in our family home. But we won't. We will clean up, and once we have, we will look forward to welcoming many more guests here this year, and for many years to come. But please don't question us for asking for a security deposit!

The kitchen. As well as the general mess, the floor is sticky with spilled drinks, and the freezer door was left ajar, causing the motor to overheat.

The most unfortunate thing about this sort of behaviour is that it leaves us with little choice other than to increase our prices to cover the added expense of cleaning this sort of thing up. Our prices will not increase for 2014, but we may be forced to re-evaluate our prices for 2015.
